What we collect
When you post a service advert or classified listing, we collect the details you provide: your title/description, email address, phone number, and any image you upload. When you report a wildlife sighting, we collect the species, date/time, your photo, your email address, and optionally your name.
Why we collect it
Your email is used to verify you're a real person before publishing your advert, listing, or sighting. Your phone number is shown publicly on your own advert or listing so neighbours can contact you. A submitted name is used for our own moderation records only and is never shown publicly.
How long we keep it
Classified listings are automatically deleted after 7 days. Provider adverts remain until you ask us to remove them, or until 72 hours after submission if never verified (see below). Wildlife sightings work the same way: automatically deleted after 72 hours if the confirmation email is never clicked, otherwise kept until an admin removes them.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or share your information with third parties for marketing. Emails are sent via Resend; the site runs on Cloudflare. Both process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
Cookies & advertising
This site carries no advertising and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It is a free community project and earns nothing. The few things it keeps on your device are there to make it work: your cookie choice, and, if you post a listing, your phone number and email so the next one is quicker. A handful of pages embed a Google map or a YouTube video, which may set their own cookies once you view them. You can manage cookie preferences via the consent banner shown on your first visit.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time. Contact us using the details on this site to make a request.
Provider and classified listings
Manor Gardens Neighbourhood verifies that a provider or classified seller controls the email address they list with before that listing is fully published. It does not vet, inspect, or endorse the quality, safety, or legality of any service or item offered. A small number of provider listings may briefly appear marked “Unverified” while that confirmation is still pending; these are automatically removed if not confirmed within 72 hours. Listing on this site, verified or not, is not a recommendation or guarantee of any kind. Please use your own judgement, ask for references, and agree on pricing and terms directly with the provider or seller before any work begins or money changes hands.
Provider recommendations
When you recommend a provider, we record the IP address your device used to submit it, alongside your email address. This is used solely for automated checks that help keep recommendations genuine and prevent abuse. We don't use it for anything else, don't display it anywhere, and it's deleted if the recommendation is removed.
