Listing rules
Almost everything neighbours want to advertise is welcome here. This page covers the few things we can't publish, so nobody wastes time writing a listing that has to come down afterwards.
What's welcome
Local trades and services, things you're selling, things you're giving away, lost pets, and wildlife you've spotted around the suburb. Manor Gardens first, and the surrounding Durban suburbs are welcome too. The test is simply whether a neighbour here could realistically use you.
What we can't publish
Health and medical claims
You can sell wellness products, supplements, cosmetics and remedies. What you can't do is claim what they treat or cure. That means no wording like cures, detoxes, boosts immunity, restores fertility, reduces brain fog, or claims about named conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure or cancer.
This isn't us being fussy. In South Africa a claim that a product treats, prevents or cures anything is a medicinal claim, and those are regulated by SAHPRA under the Medicines Act, and by the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act and the Consumer Protection Act. Because this site is run by a resident rather than a company, whoever publishes the claim carries it, and that's a risk we can't take on somebody else's behalf.
Things that need a licence, or aren't yours to sell
No prescription medicines, firearms or ammunition, counterfeit or replica goods, or anything you don't have the right to sell. Nothing that's illegal to buy or sell in South Africa.
Anything targeting or involving children unsafely
Listings must not put children at risk, and must not solicit contact with them.
Other people's details
Don't publish someone else's phone number, address or photo without their say-so. If you're recommending a business you like, the site emails them to confirm before their listing goes live. That's deliberate.
What happens if a listing breaks the rules
We'll take it down and tell you why. It isn't a ban and it isn't personal. You're welcome to post again with the wording changed. If you think we've got it wrong, say so and we'll look again.
