Move away and take children and pets with you. Do not try to catch or kill it. Then call a snake remover. That is the right response for every snake, harmless or not, so there is no need to identify it first.

Slate to olive-grey above, often salmon-pink underneath, and spreads a narrow hood when it rears up.
Can spray venom several metres towards a threat's eyes, so keep well back and never crouch down for a closer look or a photograph. If venom reaches the eyes, rinse gently with large amounts of water and get to a hospital. Mostly active at night, and drawn in by rodents and frogs.
